MA Program in Modern Global History
Jacobs University Bremen and Universität Bremen jointly present:

The Modern Global History Program is a 2-year MA program designed for an international student body. It combines the expertise of historians from two outstanding academic institutions: Jacobs University Bremen, founded in 1999 as the first private research university in Germany and attended by students from over 90 nations, and the University of Bremen, one of the country’s leading public research universities.

Major themes of the MA Modern Global History are values and life-worlds, conflicts and violence, and knowledge flows and worldwide communication in the 19th and 20th centuries. The program has particular strengths in the modern history of South, East and Southeast Asia, North and Latin America, Africa as well as Western and Eastern Europe/Russia. Students can choose from a variety of courses taught within the framework of four modules: Topics; International Relations; Connected Histories; and World Regions.

The teaching staff comprises historians, area specialists, political scientists, and economic historians.

The language of instruction is English. This is a tuition-free program. The application deadline is May 1, 2008. Courses will start on October 1, 2008.
